Sustaining Public–Private Partnerships for Public Service Provision Through Democratically Accountable Practices

Despite the multiple stakeholder-centered complexities involved, public–private partnership (PPP) modality is increasingly vehicle of choice for provision public services in developing world. This article asks how PPPs might overcome sustainability challenges a meaningful way while examining which interventions are effective facilitating rather than undermining continuity operations. We draw on notion democratic accountability and an in-depth qualitative sector-level case study Uganda. The findings underscore primacy practices that help to reduce stakeholder information asymmetry, increase partnerships’ procedural legitimacy, improve understanding substantive outcomes.
